fax instead of just email
« on: September 17, 2025, 05:15:48 am »
Hi community, I’m a compliance officer at a hospital. Our staff often ask me why we still rely on fax instead of just email. How should I explain this?

Hello! The main reason is interoperability. Not every provider uses the same secure email system, but faxing remains a universal method. With HIPAA compliant faxing, data is encrypted, logged, and delivered securely, which makes it a safer alternative than unencrypted email. Faxing also provides automatic delivery confirmations, which can be crucial for audits.
So, faxing isn’t outdated — it’s just adapted with new compliance standards. Staff need to see it as a trusted backup method that ensures communication never fails. If you want additional talking points to share with your team, check out https://digital-built-britain.com/ for more resources.
